Rebecca Rezakhani-Hilton is a Bristol based artist, specialising in film and text-based work. The past year has encouraged Rebecca to draw upon on her experience of growing up in Bristol and noting the themes that underpin her work. This includes her Iranian ancestry and themes of power, queerness, return, hope, impossibility and dreams. The central thread of her work is the association between our bodies and the contexts we live in.
She received her BA in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins. She selected to do an Erasmus exchange, which took her to Antwerp for six months. During this time, she developed fictional characters, which guided her work into text-based installations and performances. After graduation, she was selected to be part of ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival in Berlin. She then moved back to Bristol, to continue her creative career. In her role as Artist in Residence at St Mary’s Calne School, she teaches and creates work from her studio.
Rebecca has exhibited work in Bath, Newcastle, London, Antwerp and Berlin. She is pleased to be working from her home city; bringing what she has learnt from her studies to her art practice and residency.
